SELEUKID KINGS OF SYRIA. Antiochos III ‘the Great’, 222-187 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 17.00 g, 1 h), uncertain mint 70, perhaps in western Mesopotamia or in Asia Minor. Diademed head of Antiochos III to right. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ - ANTIOXOY Apollo seated left on omphalos, holding arrow in his right hand and resting his left on grounded bow. SC pl. 58, 1141.2 = WSM 1687 and pl. LXXXIII, 9 (this coin). Very rare. Beautifully toned and with an unusually lifelike portrait. Small flan crack, otherwise, good very fine.
